He came up with a set series of postures done in an extremely hot room.

His brand of yoga became so popular that he decided to copyright it. Because of the copyright, anyone teaching yoga called "Bikram" would have to give him a percentage of their profits.

This, my friends, is Yoga gone mad and gone West...

I know Choudhury is Indian but frankly the sort of Indian they export(or is that deport?)

For those who maybe think that Yoga is a new fad and only a few years old let me just say that it was around before the pyramids were built, so copyrighting his sort of yoga sequences is like trying to copyright the wheel.

It's the arrogance of the man that gets me...What he was alleged to say when they asked why he did it was - when in the West "You can F**k those that try and do what you do, with lawyers". So Yogic don't you think?

It gives us Gurus a bad name, really and I am not one to claim anything my own - in fact I can proudly state that everything I impart is someone else's and I am just so excited to share it.

So good on those guys that took the Bikram Yoga, turned it into Hot Yoga and stuffed Bikram with his own petard.

Yoga is too big for an individual to claim it as their own.

If you love to sweat and get that Indian heat into your practice, either go Hot Yoga or down the sauna for a quiet practice and and some healthy flaggelation with the birch twigs.

Oh, divine Oneness save us from the ego of those that profess knowledge and wisdom. May their power bills find them out

What do you feel about this. Feedback is great

Awareness in Speech - Asking for what you Get

Lots of talk about Awareness.

Awareness campaigns when someone gets abused, animals get mistreated, Terrorists destroy lives, people end up doing nasty things to each other.

"Never again" they grandly pronounce. Awareness focus groups and other feeble attempts at stopping bad things never happening again go on a rampage of soul searching and hand wringing.

Yet very little thought whatsoever goes into why they are happening in the first place.

You may think it is just general dissatisfaction taken to extreme, you may want to blame the perpetrators, their groups, cultures or whatever. It's in the genes...and other such trite expediences.

All of this may have a small part in the whole but there is a much larger area that demands investigation.

It is language. Behind the language, the thoughts but the expression of those thoughts are in our spoken language.

Self consciousness is the sibling of self awareness and much in spiritual circles is given to self consciousness.

Where therefore is the practice of Sound Conscious Language™?

Our prejudices, anger, hate, resentment and every other negative emotion is tied up in the way we express ourselves, what is happening to us and around us.

We are constantly creating a sea of dark energy and broadcasting it far and wide. We give little thought to how our expressed self impacts the whole, not just the situation at hand.

Is it not bad enough to have the fastest traveling entity in the cosmos seeding these emotions. Thought that is. To then compound it with language that hardens that energetic missile, you can easily see how the hatred, intolerance, suffering, anxiety, stress and all the rest are manifesting every nanosecond and creating this helllish environment.

It may seem slim comfort to lock oneself in the meditation room and broadcast love and peace, but if the moment you step out of there and react to the bile of another who is intricately wrapped up in the theater of their own emotional pain, all that went before has crumbled.

Next time you hear yourself say "I hate going to work", "I get pissed when she does that", "That idiot drove me off the road", "They deserve to suffer for what they did", " People are so poor today", "I'm starving...","The economy is in meltdown", "I never have enough to do what I want", "I'd kill him for that" and a million other expressions of less, lack and violence.

In themselves they may seem to be 'just expressions' but the expressions are energetic creations that must find a home. A drop of water is no flood but a billion drops a second is certainly getting on to tsunami proportions.

The same and more with our speech. Look no further to our world in chaos and stop using your part of that world in your expression, your language.

When the words stop the thoughts are unexpressed. They become starved of the oxygen of publicity and gradually suffocate.

We are giants in the form of creators. Let us responsibly create that which we desire for all.

One word at a time. One sentence, one phrase, one saying, one conversation describing the good there is. One day of sharpened scrutiny of our tongue and things will shine like never before.

Lose weight - Stop smoking? Change Your Mind

It's all in the mind.

How many times have we heard that, eh?

Yet how many times have we really understood what that really means.

We all have attempted to break an addiction at some time in our lives. For many of us, that may have been one time too many for our liking. Yet the simple fact is that unless we change our minds - and more specifically our mindset - nothing will change.

There are hundreds of diets, exercise plans, yoga retreats, spa treatments - you name it - they cater for it. The trainers and teachers are great . They know their stuff and their material is well researched. The results are seen to work, but temporarily. Why is that?

Because we have addressed the surface cause not the foundational thought pattern and habitual reactions. Our ingrained attitudes and handed down perceptions have everything to do with why of waist lines and are are the real causes.

Self awareness is at root of it all. Hollywood diet plans, no matter how famous the promoter, will go nowhere. Yogic understanding and practices are essential and a great training ground. They deal with the condition and health of the mind. Meditation addresses it, loosening from the bondage of circular thought patterns gradually releases us.

Primarily by allowing us to witness our own inner chaos, so that we can then choose positively to break these habits. If you are not too shocked or affected by these revelations then you are on the way to really address the causes.

The practice of yoga therapy, helps us realize our needs. We begin to develop greater self-confidence with our increasing awareness. We start becoming aware of what we need to eat, what exercise is good for us and how we should lead our lives.

We instinctively know what is best for us. The trouble is we let habit patterns override this wisdom.

These habit pattens, do not kid yourself, are strong and eager not to give up without a good fight. Heck, we have spent years cultivating their friendship. Like avarice, they will not want to be let go easily.

The answer is - to starve them. Refuse to give these habits the lifeblood of their food - that of your attention and focus. The more you let them alone, the weaker they become. Focus and think of everything that is the opposite of craving, need, desire, lack or whatever and the more they will be starved.

Cultivating a right mental attitude will overcome your previous failures with resounding success.

At this point I would like to recommend two excellent means to this end.

The first deals with cravings. Those are the little devils of destructive damage that kill the weight regime in any form. Sublimate these and the success rate is hugely increased. Natural herbal adaptogens are the answer here. The great thing is they work for any addiction, because they address the craving part in any of these things. What they actually do is cut the connection on a cellular level. To do the things we have always done in the same old way, just hoping, yet hoping that it will turn out different this time.

Of course this is the path of insanity - expecting the same old same, old to become different. Well, I do remember being an alchemist in a past life but heck, this is no alchemy - it is surely fool's gold.

Apart from citing my own struggles with change, it is a well observed fact that most of us would rather die than change. In fact we all die and those that do not change tend to die quicker.

So I come to the point of asking how many of us practice what we preach. For surely there are those in the change movement who it has been observed, say one thing and do another.

At this point I would like to refer you to a wonderful Canadian 12 year old who took the Climate Change conference in Rio some years ago to task. I mention her as she pointedly tells the world leaders present that they for the most part have told the children and the population what to do and what not to do, yet flaunt their own doctrine day in day out.

How familiar is that?

You see it is great telling others to take the medicine, yet unless we are able to take it too, having the same illness, we become quacks.

Who can people believe. Where are the shining examples of propriety, truth and sincerity?

We are so cavalier in our 'good intentions' that we forget to act on them ourselves.

People wonder why the world is in such a state. It is so blindingly obvious that we have individually and collectively created it so. It ain't rocket science to know we need to change. Then what is stopping us?

Our comfort zones, of course. Breaking old habits, moving into unchartered territory and daring to be different is for many a journey too far, a land best left unexplored.

If we could only get our minds round the fact that whatever happens when we make this step into the void, we are ultimately going to be far better off. It is this insight, the illumination and the shattering of ignorance that makes us evolve, that brings us closer to our true being

Do it now - stop talking about it - stop telling yourself that a year with four figures - 2012 - will do it for us enlightened ones and decimate they that do not walk the golden path.

This is rubbish, it is precisely such archaic thinking that will land anyone in the mud. Stop procrastination, just burst on through and live it.

"On the plains of Hesitation bleach the bones of countless millions who when on the dawn of victory, paused to rest and there resting, died." - John Dretschmer
So where does the anger, frustration, criticism of others and generally nose in the air attitudes come from and still color our lives?

We are all fallible human beings and thus swayed by our emotional boat, sometimes able to steer calmly through troubled waters and at other times at the mercy of the waves and winds of life.

So where is the sin? Aha! does that word take you to a place of religious imperative and guilt?

The word itself has such a color to it that it is hard to separate it from fundamental thinking.

Yet it is not all that it is made out to be. It is in translation - a travesty.

The original Greek word that got its translation by the good clerics of yesteryear into sin was so very different.

Tolerance, compassion and understanding the weaknesses of the human condition were all part of the great bank of knowledge handed down by the sages and none more so than the word that the religious power brokers translated as sin.

So what was the original meaning of this misguided translation and use?

The Greek word was Hermatia.

Hermatia is a term used in archery to describe the act of missing the mark, missing the target of aim.

Now if I had been told when a young lad that I had actually missed the point, not got it spot on and been encouraged to try again and aim straighter, do you suppose that my personal weight of self imposed guilt and lesser esteem might have been salvaged to a degree that I would have had time to study more and hone other qualities in me that would have hastened my road to enlightenment?

Good thought, eh?

Still everything is given for our betterment and nothing is given more than we are able to handle so you could say that everything is a win, win situation, no matter how circuitous the route.

It still makes you wonder who thinks they run the show and to what ends.

Still that is for another note, but if you cannot wait I suggest that you trip on over to The Freedom Cycle Blog and await a response to this thought.

For now though just be good girls and boys and be seen but not heard!

Living on Cloud 9 - Risky territory

How often have you taken a journey using the somewhat unreliable travel of a wing and a prayer?

I have seen some folk wait for years to get onto Cloud 9 and then as if by magic three come along at once.

It is comforting to know that using these sort of vehicles may not all they are cracked up to be. Yet folk are keen to move forward...

So how best to move forward?

Solid foundations give much better mileage and end up being far more sustainable.

So what are these solid foundations?

Awareness - Purpose - Goals and Vision

Taking ourselves outside of a mindset that convinces us we are at the mercy of events and circumstances around us is an essential start to it all.

For too long we have bought into other people's dreams, visions ideas and imperatives as to who we are, what we are supposed to do or not and altogether convinced us that we are what they tell us, wish us or perceive us to be.

An awareness of who we are, or at least a willingness to research that topic is a pre-requisite for the journey in earnest.

Thus we must define for ourselves a purpose.

What do I want, where do I wish to go and for what purpose and to what end do I wish to find myself there?

On Cloud 9 it is easy to have vague aspirational notions of all the fluffy things that feel good and sound as if they heal the world. It is a comfort zone par excellence, where others are lured siren-like into our dream state.

No, ideals and aspirations are essential to finding direction BUT they are never goals and ends in themselves. Floating in the misty pastures of their false goal-nature is slow poison to any further action. It is stagnation birthing itself.

Visioning is where all creative endeavors are constructed. The nuts and bolts of visioning and holding a vision is in the implementation of the imagination in creating a future present. A future present is living as if ...

For some this might seem a tad too close to Cloud 9 territory.

Now that is risky territory. Why?

Because this is where the voice of others tell us that we are fantasizing, dreaming and impossibly hoping that something way beyond us will transpire.

From their limited perspective that may be so . From yours it is heresy to your work.

Steer well clear while at the same time creating the appropriate feeling tone of the future present actuality. As you breathe and feel yourself living through your complete being, the feeling around every last bit of your future present, the DNA building blocks turn into the bricks and mortar of your future present.

Your future must by the laws of Natural Being, become your present.

In the focused world of living your future present you automatically set in motion all the attractors that bring it about. Manifesting all that you desire into reality is the actualized state of visioning.

Some might say that this is impossible. From their perspective and experience they have proof positive that is so. When someone has never experienced it, it is hugely challenging to make that leap of faith. When someone has experienced it, albeit put it down to some deus ex machina, magic, miracle or other excuse for creation of a focused thought and desire, then it becomes altogether part of their reality that is proven to them.

The point is to practice and put it to the test. It is challenging, as a life's worth of conditioning against this way of being can bear down as obstacles on the way.

When, however we do it even in the smallest way we have reached a goal.

Remember even a small achievement is a huge stepping stone on the path to your goal.

Never ever diminish the slightest achievement.

The acorn never let itself believe that its size would negate the impressive fortitude of the mighty oak it became, did it?

Nor will it for you. Grow and rejoice that you have the enterprise to do so.

Whose into sound? I mean that is where it all started from, right?

The sound of silence.

What does that conjure up for you?

Maybe Simon and Garfunkel for those of a certain age.

Have you ever experienced silence? I mean pure silence - no other sound - nothing.

I have. In the Toronto Science Museum back in the eighties.

It was one of the most extraordinary and yes, painful experiences I have experienced.

A feat of human endeavor to create it, but then they were really creative in that Museum.

The point is that sound transcends language. It is a language in itself. Music is sound personified as a perfect universal language.

However when we sit with each other in silence, something is touched, something is realised beyond words. There is a common bond, an energetic pure moment of being, of present.

When that silence is strong enough to still the racing mind then we experience the divine within and listen to the wisdom of the ages and the repository of our magnificent knowing.

Be still and know that I, the I AM, is God.

Lest we forget who we are, a moment of silence remembers and reminds.

If you wish to register for your free place on the upcoming discourse seminars on "A Sound Idea" that I shall be hosting with Russell Stone, mega musician, extraordinary yogi, expert in Nada Yoga, psychology and play, then drop your name and e-mail here:

I want to join the talks with Russell Stone please

Name:

Email:

Country:

Timezone ex:-EST - GMT

At what point do you find yourself saying no...?

There is a lot of buzz in the Personal Development field.

Yoga, T'ai chi, EFT, NLP, The Law of Attraction, Kabala, CBT, Sedona Method etc...etc..

Are we in danger of becoming Development junkies? Have we maybe already got stuck in the mud of mindlessness. Blinded by the bright lights of too many suns. Flying high into the Icarus Complex...?

Do we really know what change is and would we recognise it if it met us on the road?

There's a lot of people out there telling us how they have conquered the emotional Everest of their life and now live a charmed existence. They threaten to let you loose on their formula.

There are those who profess becoming millionaires in 90 days because of this methodology or that, yet plead poverty at the first hurdle.

Can you relate to any of this? Are you bothered? Does this have any meaning to you and your life?

At what point do you say - I have had it with all this and want to go back to what I know? or perhaps rant and rave, or if you are British, just tut tut at the idiocy of it all.

Change does NOT come by way of a prescription from some Guru, doctor, psychiatrist, parent's wish or coach.

You cannot, despite what some people say, buy it in a program on the Net. It does not come in monthly subscriptions.

Change is something that develops out of something that is taking place within.

It is the reward of a process of inner movement that places all the pieces of the inner jigsaw into a certain configuration whereby the view from the inside out becomes different.

Nothing out there changes. Nothing in the world changes. We see what we interpret we see. We adjudge an outcome to what we believe we see. We make a conclusion of what we choose to present to ourselves on the outside and that becomes - what it is for us.

When we really partake in something that appears to be dreadful, we are quick to place the blame, responsibility on some one or some thing outside of us.

Why?

Because it assuages our self guilt, our self pity, our refusal to face ourselves. We place ourselves in the oldest place - that of denial.

To embrace change demands an honesty and truth that can raise the Titanic emotions sunk for ages in the profundity of our subconscious. This can be painful, yet behind that pain is the joy of release.

The permanent change comes when we integrate the awareness that comes with owning ourselves and remember that even this will pass.

In this state we are all fallible human beings. Owning this truth helps us stop the beating up.

Recognising it in others and meeting this realisation with tolerance and compassion and practising it here and now brings rewards that no theory could dream of bringing.

These times call for extraordinary courage. Brave and selfless being is the order of the day, not to anyone else. To us.

Develop ourselves and then see how we can help others develop themselves.

The only true coach is the Self Coach. All the rest are just assistant coaches.

Reach deep within, look yourself straight in the inner eye and ask yourself....

Am I being that one who chose to come and be?

Remember one thing - We are all utterly capable of being who we really have always been.

We just need to chose to say YES and live it.....

When we wonder why we chose what we chose....

This beautiful verse by Swami Vivekananda is a potion of balm in the madness without calm.

Times are here for our growth.

Remembering who we really are is so important.
We then do not take things personally, yet accept fully the responsibility that is gifted with this life.

Unleash your magnificence.

Let your brilliance of being shine through

and never let the thoughts of less and lack block your undeniable and unassailable infinite powers of creativity on a cosmic scale.

THE CUP

This is the cup, the cup assigned to you from the beginning.
I know, My child, how much of this dark drink is your own brew
Of fault or passion ages long ago
In the deep years of yesterday, I know.

This is your road, a painful road and drear.
I made the stones that never give you rest;
I set your friend in pleasant ways and clear
And he, like you, shall come unto my breast,
But you, My child, must travel here.

This is your task, it has no joy or grace,
But it cannot be wrought by any other hand;
Take it. He told me once that the moment the boys sat down at the feet of the great Maharishi, they became instant genii of that locus.

I asked Guru Sam whether he had maybe lost the plot a tad, as there are no locuses growing in that part of India.

He chaffed me saying that anything is possible under the sun.

Without wanting to appear rude I kept my thoughts to myself and wondered whether he had himself not had too much sun.

Oh, well that is our beloved Sam Hadi for you.

However he did leave this extraordinary sound snippet with me that I would like to share with you here below.

What do you make of it?

Guru Sam says that this was the first music that came out of the ashram, the day after the boys' visit:

A note on Guru Sam:

The ruminations of Guru Sam Hadi - a mighty oak in the forest of life - Sharing his thoughts, ideas and viewpoint he helps address the great questions that life poses and that many of us are either forced to ponder or tempted to resolve. To go? ....it's yours.

So whose in control?

You better make it good otherwise you have only yourself to blame...

Oops! there you go - it's yours!

Now that is living in the fast lane, don't you agree?

Now tell me what you see, feel and experience......

Happy creating, lovely beings.

It's your world - make it a great place to be in.

Do we think or do we think we think?

Here is something to think about.

When was the last time you remember thinking a thought?

What you might be tempted to respond is -"Well most all the time, right?"

It may come as a bit of a shock to you and you may want to tell me that I am talking bull, but the truth of the matter is that most of us do not think.
It is said that 3% of us think, 2% think we think and 95% of us would rather die than think.

You see the 95% spend most of their time repeating the same old habitual thoughts that they have thought over and over again. They have rarely had a conscious thought of their own that demands to question why the thoughts that they have produce the same old, same old over and over again.

They would, in a word, consciously decide on change. However , like the rabbit stuck in the oncoming headlights they just stare and wonder what has happened.
If they were to think an original thought it would direct their actions and responses in a new direction. If that happens then life is never the same. We move forward and cultivate new pastures.

For the 2% that think they think, there may be an awareness that they have thinking capacity and intellectually they know the process involved in the thinking stuff that makes things happen and are competent at telling you how it does and why it does, but actually creating the thinking process into an action for change is ourtside of their comfort zone.
The 3% of those that do think, are fully conscious of the power of thought, they take responsibility for each and every thought and own that which manifests in their life as their own.

They know that by conscious positive thought, actions are taken that develop those thoughts into powerful life enhancing experiences. These folk are the motivators for change, they are the change masters of their own destiny and through their change inspire others to take the same steps and do it for them.

You have a choice in your life:

To be or not to be - to change or not to change.

Ask yourself these three questions:

Am I happy with who I am now?
Am I content with my life as it is for me now?

Are my results illustrating the vision and goals that I have aspired to and wish to achieve?
If you answer yes to any or all of these then you are one serious player in the Game of Life.

If , however, you answer no to any one of these, then you have the opportunity now, today to begin to become a serious player in the Great Game of Life.

What is your decision?

Let the Games begin!

Nah! happy in being beaten from pillar to post
and blown every which way

Think about it!

Surf and Yoga - a must for the calendar

Imagine cresting on a magnificent roller, flying in on the top of the a beautiful wave atop a surf board.....Got it in your mind's eye?

Now dare you stand up and do Vriksasana, at one with the whole?

Or do you see yourself losing it and being consumed in the surf?

Of course you do not. We let it take us hither and thither. Often along with a thousand others (thoughts) bunched into a space like sardines in a tin.

Fun, is it not, this rush hour or twenty four?

Then you see there is this gap...and there are health and safety experts admonishing us avoid and mind the gap or all hell will be let loose or at best accidents will occur.

So like the good sheep being shepherded by the good shepherd we step across into the sometimes sweaty, often overcrowded, isolated, uncommunicative islands of own thought that make up this carriage on the train of thought.

Ever thought what it might be like to NOT mind the gap?

Ever plunged into the unknown?

Why not give it a try sometime. You may be surprised to learn that what others fear or are terrified by is in fact the doorway to freedom.

"Jump," he said to those hovering near the edge, terrified and unbelieving they could fly.

"Jump," he repeated as most shrunk back from the edge.

"Jump," he insisted as one brave and terrified individual remained close to the edge.

" I cannot," the nearly brave one pleaded.

"Of course you can," the master assured.

"Can I?"

" Of course," the master replied pushing her over the edge.

...and she flew.

Be brave, do not play safe. Risk all and come up smelling of roses

====================
Health Warning for idiots:
Do not attempt to push yourself or anyone into the gap between a platform and train.
Trains are fast dangerous oncoming objects that can kill at speed.
Use your five senses and your sixth will look after you.

Welcome to Yogaez - Where Chit Chat Ananda rules, OK?

So...

Welcome all,

Come share our world of Body Mind Bliss

Does it make you Shiva in your boots or wonder whether a bird in ananda is worth two in a lotus?

Certainly a dog and a cat would not create a mukti or have a close shavasan with a loose guru.

Yes indeed this is the place for spreading the chit, chewing the chat and chilling with a long glass of Ananda.

Expect the unexpected ....as it is just around the corner.

Lay in the long grass of of non resistance.

Walk beside streams of consciousness, let the light breeze of bhakti waft scented aromas of buddhic balm across your third eye, caressing your dharma as the distant highways ring with the drone of karmas speeding by.

Marvel at your pet dogma, unleashed and chasing cunning cobras into an abyss of ahimsa whilst near Vana, the Tree of Life grows another branch and flourishes....
