Catherine was originally a professional dancer and has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. She holds a Masters degree in ballet studies and is a qualified Thai massage practitioner, and it is this interest in the body which informs and inspires her teaching. She has studied Sivananda, Ashtanga and various forms of Hatha yoga before gravitating to the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, and now teaches popular classes and workshops at Triyoga and her private practice.

Huzur Vadisi
The feeling at Huzur Vadisi is very much of being a houseguest - the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and particularly welcoming to people holidaying on their own. Huzur Vadisi has a beautiful natural stone swimming pool for you to relax by and a traditional wooden kosk, which is not unlike an exotic tree house, and is a favourite spot for siestas!
Accommodation is in nomadic yurts, circular domed "tents", made on a wooden trellis frame. Comfortable and spacious, in hot weather the apex of the roof is left open to the sky, the so called "Eye of Heaven" - at night you can see the stars from your bed. Equipped with "proper" beds, electricity, wooden floors and home comforts, it is definitely not camping!
Groups average about twenty people.
Food at Huzur Vadisi is delicious, mainly vegetarian and based on fresh local produce - fruit, vegetables, pulses, nuts, cheeses and yoghurt.
Accomodation at the retreat
Yoga at Huzur Vadisi
We will have two, two hour sessions each day, with one day off for free time, relaxing, and exploring the local area. In Huzur Vadisi, we can take a full day’s boat trip along the coast. (Not included in cost).
Scaravelli inspired yoga encourages slow and gentle explorations of the body and mind, focusing on gently awakening physical awareness. Based on her dance training and interest in smooth functioning of the body, Catherine’s approach is gentle and intuitive. Each session becomes a journey into alignment, breath, and the effect of gravity, to reveal and release the natural freedom of the body, particularly the spine. This approach to yoga gradually enables us to reveal long-held patterns and begin to shift blocks and improve our overall relationship with our bodies.

Getting there ...
There are regular charter flights to Dalaman – which is a four hour flight from the UK.
The airport is about half an hour from Huzur Vadisi, and minibus transfers can be arranged for those arriving on selected flights for £15 per person, to include both journeys. Those arriving on different flights will need to make their own arrangements to arrive by local taxi, which is around £30 one way. You will receive full details, including directions, upon receipt of your final payment.

Programme
We arrive on Monday, and start yoga sessions on Tuesday morning.
There are two, two hour long yoga sessions each day, one in the morning, the other in the late afternoon - but of course, if you prefer to laze by the pool, or indulge in a supremely relaxing massage, then that's fine! There will be one day "off", (usually Thursday) during which you are free to explore the local area, or join us for a full day's boat trip around the beautiful bay of Gocek (£35 approx each, for a minimum of 10 people), anchoring in quiet coves for lunch, tea and swimming. The local village of Gocek which is only a twenty minute taxi ride away has a pretty marina with shops, little bars and restaurants, providing all amenities.
Price and what is included
The price for one week is £575.00 (inc. online booking fee). Excluding flights, insurance and excursions. The price is inclusive of accommodation on a twin share basis, full board (mainly vegetarian), all yoga tuition. Single rooms are available for a £100 supplement, but availability is always limited and dependent on group numbers.
Massage treatments from Robert (see below) are available throughout your stay. Payments should be made directly to him.
Massages on both trips
Robert Annis will be coming with us to provide the massages. He is a really gifted therapist and has been described as “an outstanding practitioner …a necessity in my quest to keep my ailing body intact! I can't recommend him highly enough." Damian Hopley, ex England Rugby player
He also comes with a warning:
"Beware: using Robert makes all other massage seem second rate. So, if you don't want to ruin the experience in five star resorts everywhere else in the world, throw away his details immediately!" Katie Rowen, MD, 360˚ Communications Ltd
