Overtone chanting yoga chants

The foundation for the two works - Walking Cactus Tip and Red Earth - that make up the album, is the vocal chanting of overtones (tuning). The basis of this technique involves using the singer's vocal cavities as a sonic filter, allowing the rich harmonics spectrum of vocal sound to be specifically tuned and focused, revealing the higher frequencies within the voice.This tuning of the chanting voice has been likened in character to the singing of angels, and may be indeed just that. Another observer hears tuning as a mirror for the fundamental vibratory relationships that are the basis for all that is in this universe. Quite literally, sacred geometry for the ear.

"...There are song "cues" on the CD, but for all intents and purposes, this is a single long piece of music, in my opinion. Which is not to say that the music does not change or evolve. As with all good drone-based music, the music morphs patiently yet noticeably when a person listens actively. Which brings me to an important point. When I played Red Earth as background ambient music (the first three or four times), while I "liked" it, it didn't resonate for me in any remarkable way. However, as is usually the case with this kind of recording (you'd think I learn someday!), when I sat quietly and "listened," a whole other side of Red Earth revealed itself. So, I would encourage you, should you buy the album, to dim the lights and wait till the world (or your corner of it, at least) is quiet. The experience of hearing all the subtleties of this album (such as the guitars which truly do add something special) is magical. Bill Polits is an extremely talented overtone chanter and musician.
