Raga Lalit - is a female raga - Sachdev's first breath brings life to the bansuri. The piece is played with quiet expression; his fingers awaken the notes on the flute similar perhaps to the way darkness gives way to the morning light. The music is soft and tender -a woman's song. One can imagine this voice singing in response to the touch of sunlight which gives her strength to begin another day.
Raga Hindole - for this ancient raga, Sachdev has blended the music of the bansuri to reflect masculine energy. The sound of the flute is deep and powerful. One feels the flow of the music like a heartbeat quickening in response to the voice of the divine. The song notes glide into a transition from strong to soft, while the sound of the bansuri replenishes the soul as it guides one to seek inner peace and observe the beauty of it.
The emotion and skilful playing of these first two ragas on Greeting of the Dawn remind us to release the darkness, embrace the light of the dawn and feel the intangible spiritual connection of oneness.
For the ragas, Ahir Bhairav and Alahya Bilaval Sachdev creates a sound on the flute as a calling to arise just as the birds sing in greeting of the dawn. Every note takes you through a spirited meditation of renewal.
